PILATES

WHAT IS PILATES?

Pilates is a full-body workout that builds strength from the inside out. With a focus on core, posture, and flexibility,

Pilates helps you move better, feel stronger, and release stress—all in a low-impact, energizing way. It’s fitness that supports both body and mind.

Pilates is an exercise method that focuses on core strength, flexibility, and mindful movement. Through controlled exercises, Pilates improves posture, balance, and body awareness, supporting overall strength and well-being.

WHERE DID PILATES COME FROM?

Joseph Pilates (1883–1967) was a German physical trainer and the creator of the Pilates method, originally called “Contrology.” Inspired by his study of anatomy, yoga, and martial arts, he developed his system of exercises to build strength, flexibility, and balance through mindful, precise movement. He first applied his method to rehabilitate injured soldiers during World War I and later refined it after moving to New York, where Pilates gained popularity among dancers, athletes, and performers. Today, his work forms the foundation of the modern Pilates practice worldwide.
